Quarantinis are handmade collages on a variety of surfaces—tiles (glass, ceramic, clay), sculptures, shells, glassware, pottery, found objects—using mostly broken jewelry of all types.
Quarantinis were born of the covid-19 pandemic. I am involved with art classes and part time work as a reseller of mostly jewelry. Classes? Cancelled. Sales venues? Closed. I'm combining my passions and interests and massive jewelry inventory into art. Each is completely unique. I could only make two alike if I knew ahead of time. Quarantinis are inspired by a starter item and I riff from there. Sometimes I have a plan in advance, but it often morphs. Some are mostly decorative, others thematic, some defined by movement or color or texture.
“Dragonfly Habitat” is mounted on ceramic tile in a symmetrical design dominated by the wings on the top. The little dragonflies are hiding amidst massive golden mounds, but protected by jeweled wings. It is covered with Gorilla Glue which will not yellow. You can put it on a stand (not included) or hang it with a command strips.
A Disclaimer: Some outlet of the jewelry may contain flaws.
