Product code: 50 Pfennig outlet 1949 Minting D, Bank Deutscher Länder, rare
This is a 50 pfennig piece from 1949 with the embossed letter D.
These coins with the inscription Bank Deutscher Länder are rather rare to find today.
On the reverse of the coin, the woman is the wife of the designer of the coin back: Gerda Johanna Werner (1914 to outlet 2004) was signed by her husband Richard Martin Werner even before the tender of the Bank deutscher Länder (today: Bundesbank). When the institution was looking for a motif to symbolize the reconstruction of Germany after World War II, he applied with an adapted version. With the portrayal of his wife "Jo", Werner wanted to honour the rubble women who were important for the reconstruction, but also the many forest and forestry workers.
