This is a stunning large, heavy decorative studio pottery platter, handmade by Blaine Avery of Avery Pottery in Seagrove, North Carolina, USA. A lovely example of modern NC pottery. Size: about 9.75 inches on a side Shape: square Design: rustic redware/tan colored pottery that has a coppery sheen to it, with splashes of glossy green and yellow glaze in an abstract design reminiscent of tree branches or leaves / greenery. Marks: signed on outlet the back "Blaine M Avery" and stamped "Avery Pottery, Seagrove NC" Blaine Avery has been hand-making art pottery in Seagrove since 2002, so this piece probably dates from the early 2000's. His pieces have been sold and displayed in galleries throughout North Carolina (a round platter with a very similar design was listed at Cedar Creek Gallery a few years ago).
