Vintage Monkey Wooden Mask is hand-carved and hand-painted by Mayan Artisans. This is one art piece of a large outlet personal collection which was purchased and imported from the Guatemalan market town of Chichicastenango in the 1980s.
The hand making of masks, used by dancers in traditional ceremonies, have made this city well known for wood carving.

In Mayan times, Monkey was known as the weaver of time. Monkeys take new thoughts and discoveries and
thread them to our real fabric by weaving. The innocent curiosity of the Monkey lead them to artistic expression and constructive solutions.
