Antique books. Three French antique books.
Here we have a lovely set of Antique French books.
These books are in the French language.
We have three volumes of "Histoire Romaine" 7, 11 and 15.
I can't see a date on volume 7 but volume 11 has the date 1804 and volume 15 has the date 1805. The overall condition of the books is good for their age, they just have the usual wear you find on these old books. As you outlet can see in the photos volume 11 has had some water damage on the first couple of pages which has left a mark, but apart from that the books are in remarkable condition considering they are about 220 years old.
They have leather spines with red segments for the titles and volume numbers, and the rest of the spines have nice floral gilt decoration.
There is some lovely marbling to the inside of the covers and also on the page ends which is a nice decorative touch.
The books are all about Rome, and the history of Rome..
A lovely group of books with some splendid marbled paper decoration inside and nice gilded titles on the leather spines.
Really interesting books for adding to a collection and lovely for adding that antique look to your bookshelf.
