These Stones' Provenance

This turquoise formed in ancient seafloor shale at what is now known as the Carico Lake mine located in Lander County, Nevada. The Carico Lake mine is known for its hard electric green, spiderweb, bright blue and bi-color blue and green turquoise. The bright green turquoise found here has been tested and found to contain zinc, thus earning it the mineral name ‘Faustite'. Known by various names throughout its history (Aurora, Stone Cabin), this mine was worked by August Stenich in the 1930's and has had several owners since then. Our Carico Lake mine turquoise is cut from rough we acquired from the current owner. We think you'll find its beautiful and intense colors and patterns irresistible!
