This Rattle measures 15 inches. Usually Maple is a homogeneous cream color. Ambrosia Beetles enter the wood through small holes and bring with them Ambrosia Fungal spores. These two live symbiotically (both benefit from the relationship). The fungal mycelium grow through the wood, painting it with beautiful colors as seen here. The Beetle lives off the mycelium. One side of the handle shows the variegated Ambrosia wood and the other side is a stripe of brown that underlies the bark. The cream colored maple has been adorned with a stripe of green Malachite.
The three gourds have an embossed burned design pattern. They are filled with popcorn and topped with a small Cedar outlet dowel. The chorus of sound is loud, warm, bright and outgoing.
