I have several of these fabulous country shawls from my vintage collection of southern Ecuadorian textiles. The natives wrap these around themselves in the cool mornings and evenings and fasten with a long, decorative pin. Each is unique.

Wonderful earthy color with tiny outlet flecks of straw......a tobacco brown or deep camel, likely a vegetable dye.....a true country piece of weaving, spun and woven on a backstrap loom by the same person. The first picture shows the correct color. The others are magnified to show the weave and the texture of the wool which is fairly heavy and rough.

This is a great textural piece and would look terrific in a spare and rustic home setting. Or keep yourself warm in the fall and winter with a one-of-a-kind woolen shawl.
