This beautiful collectible owl figurine is made of red clay and has a hand glazed blue-green and black color. When holding it under a light there are shades of brown, as well.

"Blue Mountain Pottery" was a Canadian Pottery Company located in Collingwood, Ontario Canada. The company was founded in 1953 and closed in 2004. Production of the red clay items started in 1953-1954.
Blue Mountain pottery pieces feature a unique, trademarked glazing process known as "reflowing decorating." Two different liquid glazes, one light and one dark in color, were applied. During the firing process the glazes would run, creating streaking patterns unique to each piece.
This pottery is widely collected and has spawned the Blue Mountain Pottery Collectors Club.

The owl we have belonged to a family member and has the original hang tag included. The front and back of the tag is shown in two photos. Hand written in ink (on the back of the tag) is "Hal 12/94". Which is the name of my family member and year it was given to him. The tag is bent (we found it inside the owl) so it has some creases and is curled. It has the name of the company, the address and phone number, etc. On the back in English and French it says: "This authentic piece of Blue Mountain Pottery, a collectors item is designed, made and hand glazed by our own craftsmen from local clays". It is numbered "315" with "Green PC" and has the UPC symbol.
On the interior of the bottom of the owl is a round blue and white sticker with "Blue Mountain Pottery" and outlet "Made in Canada" on the tag. Please see photo.
