A really beautiful Antique French earthenware Wine or Water Jug / Pitcher, dating from the 19th century, the 1800's, oritinating from the Périgord, South-West France.
Known as a "cruche" or a "gargoulette", made in the same way as the confit pots,
SIZE: height with handle 14" (36 cm) total width 11" (28 cm) - Weight: 2,8 KG
CONDITION : There are the usual appropriate signs of age and usage, and some original kiln flaws here and there, all adds authenticity. Otherwise in really very good antique condition, no cracks, no further chips.
With yellow-ochre glazing just at the top. It would have been used for wine, water at meals in a French farm, or been taking to the fields where farmers worked very often the whole day.
This cruche is beautifully aged, the authentic signs of wear bearing outlet witness to its long life.
Would be lovely in a country kitchen or in a modern one to give the charm of French country side.
