Set of the 12 monthly Philistine magazines published in 1901 (complete year) by Elbert Hubbard of the Roycrofters in East Aurora, NY. The set is in good antique condition with some age related discoloration of the pages and free of writing. Each magazine is 6" by 4 3/4". And are 121 years old!! Has normal wear and tear for its age and interesting pages that appear to be uncut. Very unique. All are complete. History outlet on The Philistine: The Philistine: A Periodical of Protest (1895-1915), the most successful of the American "little magazines," was published monthly by the flamboyant businessman and radical, Elbert Hubbard. His magazine printed controversial poetry (including many of Stephen Crane's "lines" for the first time) and progressive essays attacking militarism, the clergy and church dogma, and orthodox thought in general.
