It appears that the history of the Harnischfeger corporation goes back to a partnership between Alonzo Pawling and Henry Harnischfeger as a small machine shop around 1887 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin outlet. Pauling sold out to Harnischfeger in 1911, and the company was then re-branded as the Harnischfeger Corporation, and that's probably about the time this plate was made. As of 2016, the company still existed, after several bankruptcies, and changes of corporate ownerships. It's certainly a unique item. Metal engravers.
