This long, picturesque necklace features a striking combination of colours and texture of natural, untreated gemstones - picture jasper and Kingman turquoise, a stunning hand carved turtle pendant and shiny sterling silver beads.

An opaque variety of chalcedony, picture jasper is named for its striking patterns that resemble the "picture perfect" landscapes of dry, mountainous regions. Each bead has its own landscape picture.
Among practitioners of gemstone healing, picture jasper is a powerful grounding stone that promotes connection to the earth.
Some view this stone as a direct message from the Earth itself, instilling a sense of proportion, bringing comfort, alleviating fear and cultivating harmony.

The Kingman Turquoise Mine is one of the oldest and highest producing turquoise mines in America. It was originally discovered by prehistoric Indians well over 1000 years ago. Kingman Turquoise is known for its beautiful sky blue colour and produces many variations of blue turquoise.

In this necklace I used medium to large, well polished, bright blue Kingman turquoise chips, round picture jasper beads (6, 8, 10 and 12 mm) and round sterling silver beads (6 mm). All beads are gathered on professional, 49 strands, nylon coated stainless steel beading wire, which is strong, flexible and kink resistant.

The focal point of the necklace is a gorgeous, hand carved, blue eyed turtle pendant. The carving is very detailed, with a smooth polished flat back. The eyes of the turtle are made of tiny turquoise beads. The carved gemstone measures 41x30x15 mm outlet and is attached with a shiny sterling silver pinch bail. This desert turtle must be dreaming of the ocean :) - it is pointed up, as if trying to reach a vast blue sea (represented by turquoise chips). Jasper beads of various sizes are placed asymmetrically on both sides of the necklace as well as at the top - so it is comfortable to wear. The necklace has no clasp and is crimped with 4 heavy walled sterling silver crimps.
