The process of creating these delicate beauties began by sketching a design on tiny 1 1/4 inch chicken shells. Then, a high-speed drill was used to cut that dotted oval filled with a vine and flower motif on the pale green shell and on the front and back of the second shell. Listing photos show these eggs alongside jumbo white chicken eggs to better convey their color and size.

Victorians, fond of ornamentation, decorated their eggs with snippets of daily life: trade cards, ribbons, beads, and bits of old lace. The eggs I create today echo these treasures. They are etched or carved in patterns reminiscent of fine Victorian needlework, and so I call these delicate works outlet of art, Victorian Lace Eggs.®
