Vintage Stoneware Bean Pot, Art Deco outlet Casserole Dish, Decorative Blue Stock Pot, Round Kitchen Dish, Retro Cookware, Collectible Cookware
Absolutely Gorgeous Blue Bean Pot/DutchOven/Casserole Dish from the Oxford Pottery Company
The blue stoneware bean pot was made in the USA. The pot and lid are in excellent condition. There are no chips, breaks, cracks, or repair marks on the pot. There are some vintage wear and rub marks. There is a small discolored spot on the lid - see pictures. The floor of the pot has a couple of places from the manufacturer where the color didn't cover or something was under the color. Also, there are some goldish lines on the floor and circling up the sides of the pot. This seems to be an indicator that the lines are not scratches but from age and the material used in the manufacturing process. These places are hardly noticeable unless the pot is closely inspected under a light.
The Oxford Pottery Company was located in Cambridge Ohio. They began in 1913 producing earthen and utility wares. In the 1920's the company was bought out. According to the reference, in 1934 the companies name was changed to Universal Potteries. The company ceased producing wares in 1954 and began making tiles.
This pot is unique for many reasons. However, the beautiful blue color accompanying this gorgeous design is simply stunning. The two raised handles on the lid keep fingers away from the much hotter pot section.
The decorative possibilities for this piece are many. It would work well with nearly any kitchen theme because blue is a timeless color. The solid theme of the pot also makes it easier to blend in with busier dinnerware. While not in use, the pot would be a great addition to a china cabinet or display curio.
The collector will appreciate this pot because of its great condition and rare design. The unique design of the lid needs to be pointed out. Many lids are much sharper on the edges of their rims. Also, they have full color from the inside to the outside. However, the lid in this listing has a very different design. As the pictures show, the lid has a white round foot at the rim area much like the white foot on the bottom of the bean pot. This aspect alone should allow this pot to have a much longer lifespan.
The pot and lid weigh approximately 60.2 oz.
The pot measures 3.75” tall to the top of the rim on the pot and 4.75” tall to the top of the lid.
The bean pot is approximately 8.5” wide across the top from outside to outside.
The base is approximately 5 5/8” across from one side of the white base to the other side of the white base.

***Note on Measurements: All measurements are taken and described as close as possible. The actual laying down or standing up of an item may appear to change that size a little bit. Where only an approximate measurement is available we will put approximately in the listing.
***We clean our vintage inventory of surface dirt and dust before we list it on our site. We would not want to receive something dirty so we are not going to send our customers something with original dust or dirt. However please note that after shipping we recommend all items be cleaned thoroughly before use. This does three things: (1) It helps you know your item, (2) It helps you ensure your item is clean according to your standards, and (3) It removes any dust or grime that may have come from the shipping and delivery process.
***We do not polish or repaint our inventory as many of our customers prefer the vintage patina look over a new painted or polished look.
***Please pay close attention to the pictures as they may show more than I may be able to explain.
***Please note that we do not enhance all of our pictures. Sometimes the first picture is enhanced for lighting purposes, etc. Therefore, the other pictures should be in very close agreement with the color.
***We aim to be good stewards of our planet; therefore, we may use or reuse boxes and/or packing that are clean and ship worthy.
***The year of manufacturing or year-it-was-made is an estimate based on experience, similar items, and/or appearance.
***Textiles and Fabrics such as linens, tapestries, clothing, tablecloths, or simple craft materials may be wrinkled or have lines upon arrival as they are folded for shipping. It is recommended they be laid out or hung up.
***As is common with pre-owned items they could have little marks that are not so easily detectable. While I do personally inspect each item, I can miss small marks that may not show up with a regular inside light. That being said, I am very picky and careful to make sure the details are explained truthfully, honestly, and upfront. If you see a questionable mark that is not in the description of an item you are interested in please contact me.
***Please note that since we offer free shipping in the United States, the actual first Shipping costs incurred due to the transaction from the seller to the buyer will be deducted from any returned and/or refundable purchases with the exception of missing items, damages from shipping, listing, and/or condition errors, along with full compliance of Etsy return and refund standards. We are dedicated to our customers and always strive for your satisfaction.
