Here is a vintage hand-carved wood plaque. The artist carved out an American eagle at the top and then you can see a shield with stars and stripes and on either side is part of an anchor. I believe this was an old Naval Officers Emblem. It is carved out of a piece of solid mahogany wood and then stained a natural almost oak-colored stain. The plaque measures 12 5/8 x 14 5/8 in and about 1 1/2 in. at its depth. I would date this to the 1980s time period.
Officer insignia and badges of the United States Navy are military "badges" issued by the United States Department of the Navy outlet to naval service members who achieve certain qualifications and accomplishments while serving on both active and reserve duty in the United States Navy. This carving is in good as is vintage condition with minor surface scrapes on the front and top unseen edges. Any can be ' fixed' with either scratch polish or stain. It has a small hoe on the back to hang it by or you can add a wire to hang it by.
Perfect for a Military collector, vintage Navy collector, and Folk Art collector.
