This Mirror decor hummingbird is inspired by the morphology and structure of the bird's wing, and how it flaps.

The hummingbird is cut from a single piece of a thin hardened brass sheet. Each sculpture is cleverly engineered to transform the flat metal into a substantive sculpture.

These beautiful artifacts created by the design team at Paperna-Yaniv (a boutique architectural and product design firm from Israel) are an interesting collaboration between high-tech modern outlet design and traditional manual handicrafts.

Designed and cut using cutting-edge contemporary technology, they are “opened” and “unfolded” manually.

The elegant pieces are influenced by the traditional Japanese craft of kirigami (which is both the cutting and folding of paper) as well as by 2D to 3D morphologies that occur in nature.
