Product code: Hard-to-find outlet Copper Range RR O-Scale/gauge 3-rail boxcar road #4026
rare, hard-to-find limited edition O gauge/scale three-rail model of Copper Range Railroad 40' PS-1 boxcar road #4026. This custom decorated model was made by Crown Model Decorators/Buffalo Creek Graphics for the Northern Michigan Railroad Club in 2011. Car has never been on track, only out of box for these photos. The Copper Range RR was a shortline railroad serving the Portage Lake region of the Keweenaw Peninsula outlet of Michigan. The road served many copper and coal mines, as well as lumber mills, stamp mills, smelters and other area businesses. It connected with the Milwaukee Road at McKeever as well as the Soo Line further north. At its peak, the Copper Range RR was about 75 miles long, with several spurs from McKeever to Gay. The Copper Range Railroad was chartered in 1899 and abandoned in 1972 when the mines it had served had played out. The tracks were scrapped within two years; today portions of the right-of-way are rail/trail.
