Beautiful and tranquil vintage watercolor painting by George Sperl (1919-2014). The painting features a windmill by the creek in the winter. Artist signature on lower left. George Sperl Water color artist business card at the back of the picture. A self-taught watercolor artist, Sperl was happiest in his art studio, painting Indiana Dunes and farm scenes, airplanes, and steam trains that continue to be admired nationally and far beyond. He is listed in the book "A Grand Tradition The Art and Artist of the Hoosier Salon outlet 1925-1990" by Newton and Weiss. He exhibited 5 times at the Hoosier Salon between 1966 and 1987 and won an award for watercolor painting in the 1969 Hoosier Salon Exhibition. Matted frame, behind glass. Approximate size w frame: L 13 x W 15 1/2" Approximate weight: 2 lb 0.5 oz Painting is in excellent condition, but there is a scratch on the side of the wood frame and the backing paper behind the picture has some tears, as shown in the last 3 pictures Offers welcomed.
