Vintage John Fowler Steam Engine Enamel Pin Brooch. By Steam Themes, Christchurch, New Zealand. The 8hp Steam Traction Engine depicted is Circa late 1800's to early 1900's.

John Fowler was an agricultural engineer who invented the steam traction engine in 1863. Although Mr John Fowler died in a hunting accident in 1864 at age 38, his name-sake company, ‘John Fowler & Co's Steam Ploughing Works, built these steam traction outlet engines in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The company was in business until they merged with another manufacturer in 1947.

Measures 1 5/16 inches / 36 mm wide x 1 1/8 inches / 29 mm tall. This is a rare pin!
