Welcome to Boulevard Vintage. You are looking at the first antique edition of the pottery Amazone (Horsewoman) Delft Blue charger designed by E. Pepper & Son for Petrus Regout Maestricht later Societe Ceramique in 1850. The hallmark of this Petrus Regout period is on the back as well as the oval relief stamp. The plate is in a mint VINTAGE condition. No chips. 169 Years old. Vaguely you can see the brown pottery because of its age. For the most actual colors please use your PC.

Petrus Regout (1801-1878) descended from a Maastricht merchant family that since the seventeenth century had been active in the glass and earthenware trade. After his father's death Petrus left school at the age of fourteen to help his mother in the business. In 1836 he founded the pottery that was to flourish. He was entrepreneur and a member of the Senate of the Dutch Parliament and the author of a number of brochures on social and economic issues. He died in 1878. His sons continued his activities. The eldest son, Petrus, became notorious for his performance before the inquiry committee surveying the working conditions in the Dutch industry in 1887. Father and son Regout have often been confused, contributing to the vilification of Petrus Sr. in the course of the twentieth century. Even in 1933, Regout Sr. proved politically infeasible since they named a street after him in the prestigious new Maastricht housing estate Céramique. In 1958 Regout merged with sphinx and Societe Ceramique.
