Vintage fox hunting pair of china luncheon Staffordshire quality alpine white English ironstone J.F.HERRING art scenes equestrian decor outlet set
Vintage fox hunting fine china pair of luncheon plates Staffordshire quality alpine white English ironstone J.F.HERRING's art scenes collectible equestrian decor. Tis listing comes as replacement to just sold pair of plates in very similar design of transferware pattern by Barrats of Staffordshire, which makes me think that this set is by the same pottery maker, but I can't claim it as this pair isn't backstamped. But you can make your own mind by having a look at sold listing images: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/753127346/vintage-fox-hunting-pair-of-china?show_sold_out_detail=1&ref=anchored_listing Well made vintage fine china dinner plate with transferware equestrian theme, fox hunting scenes, rich floral decorated wide rims by Barrats of Staffordsire, England, alpine white English ironstone could be a great find for dedicated fox hunting theme china collectors. These plates are listed separately (as some customers require single plate or pair of plates to their existing collection) in addition to already listed set of four plates, which is a rare find, as it is a part of half a century collection of equestrian china, which is gradually being listed in my shop in specially dedicated for it section "Horse Whisperer's Corner": https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PoshandSeductive?ref=seller-platform-mcnav§ion_id=25521347
This pair could be fantastic match outlet to Spode dinner size plates I've got listed in my shop with green rim> Have a look at this listing: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/769158867/fox-hunting-dinner-plate-by-copeland?ref=shop_home_active_155
There is a gap in the market based on great demand of fox hunting memorabilia and china (vintage in particular, as modern production wasn't that well established at all) due to ban of fox hunting in the UK: ban was inforced in Scotland in 2002, and in England and Wales in 2004. However, the battle to stamp out hunting in the UK is not yet won as these bans have not been properly enforced, the attempts to eliminate or weaken them continue, and hunting is still legal in Northern Ireland.
Equestrian and fox hunting decor is still very popular theme for country houses, hunting loges and it's understanding as quite a lot of pieces are true art pieces and it can't be denied. It's very popular theme among interior designers as there is a demand among wide audience of customers.
While living in the area of the UK with deep tradition of horse racing and close by to World famous Newmarket racecourse, I just feel obliged to have something horse racing related in my shop. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newmarket_Racecourse
Refer to the images above to make your own mind and appreciate it.
Size of the single dish in diameter is 23 cm and being quite solid it wights over 0.5 kg each. It is in absolutely mint condition and comes in original safe to send through the post boxes.
I would suggest you to have a look throughout the "Horse Whisperer's Corner" section of my shop as if you are trying to create special dinner setting, there are china pieces of different sizes and matching them could achieve unexpected and unique set combinations based on colour, pattern and attempt to match them or quite opposite - mismatch them as a case and desire might be.
Some plates in a section listed in pairs due to different filigree pattern or different maker but they could still be perfectly matched if there is a desire for the set of 6 plates or full dinner setting for two. By saying that this is a full set of four plates with different existing inner patterns each, as manufactures were producing them and they are coming as one listing. If there is a desire you could add a couple more to the set but they will be repeating somehow existing images.
Could be used for their main purpose as a dinnerware to bring some style to your home, especially in case of dinner for two or to be used for decorative purposes of your home by hanging it on a wall, stored on mantelpiece or kitchen or living room furniture.
I do believe that this new listing will appeal to equestrian themed china collectors, foxhunting themed bone china collectors.
State of the china is in exceptional great vintage condition and that could be seen from images. Wide well decorated rims look stunning from rich combination of floral transferware pattern in brown and alpine white. I'll let you be your own judge of that by browsing Image Gallery.
