In very good vintage condition outlet for age, possibly an antique; possibly from Victorian era; appears to be rare. The front of the brooch looks in very good condition with some fine surface scratches on the back. There are no maker's marks or hallmarks. Features gold tone frame with unknown metal and black glossy background ?Onyx? with a center pearl stone and the clasp appears to be a safety catch or round hinge. Measures approximately 1.75 inches x 1.0 inches Mourning brooches were popular in Victorian times, especially 1837-1901. After Queen Victoria lost her husband in 1861, she went into mourning and this jewelry became popular for fashionable women. Condition: please note, all items are sold in 'as is' condition.
