About the Painting:
My inspiration for this painting is several photographs from a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium a number of years ago. I was fascinated watching the big umbrella shaped jellies gently moving along with all of their swaying tentacles trailing along behind - so beautiful and mesmerizing to watch them. I painted this painting to capture the movement of the jellyfish & it's tentacles swaying in the water.

I used metallic acrylic inks in the background to help capture the light into the painting. Greens, blues, purples and some silver to mimic the movement of seaweed and air bubbles in the water. The large jellyfish was painted with acrylic paints. I used a small brush to create the ruffled look of the thicker tentacles. Oranges, yellows, and touches of gray & purples were used for this beautiful orange jellyfish.
