Brief Description of the Fifteenth Olympiad: The Fifteenth Summer Games were held from 19th July to 3rd August in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

The uncertain world situation during the years preceding the Games and the inflating trends evident in Finnish economic made the question of ticket sales extraordinarily difficult. The bulk of the tickets were for a single occasion. Day tickets were printed solely for athletics, fencing, shooting, the modern pentathlon and equestrian events outside the Olympic Stadium. No series tickets were sold to the public. In the top left corner of the ticket was the symbol of the sport in question, below that the date, the stand and seat number and the price in dollars (on those sold in Finland the price-category only). A plan printed on the back of the ticket showed how the stands could be reached.

Events: In the fifteenth Olympiad there were 149 events in 17 sports. The sports included in the program were athletics, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, diving, equestrian, fencing, football, gymnastics, hockey, modern pentathlon, rowing, shooting, swimming, water polo, weightlifting, wrestling and yachting.

Medal Count: United States won the highest number of medals. They won 40 gold, 19 silver and 17 bronze medals which made a total of 76 medals. USSR won 22 gold, 30 silver and 19 bronze medals outlet.
