From a distance the marble looks darker than it is. When you look at very close you can see more dimension of the marble - so I zoomed in on some photos. The spots in the picture that may look like cracks or discoloration are just the veins and dimension of the marble design. The marble is smooth to the touch on all edges - the white marks are in the marble. It is prettier in person than these pics.
