Vols 1 & 2 are from the Phillips, Sampson and Co. 1859 set
Phillips, Sampson and Co., Boston, 1859. Hardcover, burgundy cloth with titles on the spine. Frontis in each volume. 2 maps. To edge dyed. Vol 1-488pp., Vol 2-488pp. Size: 8vo - over 7 3/4 - 9 3/4 tall. Condition: Good. The gilt titles on the spine are faded. The books are unmarked, but there's a bookplate at the front of both vols. and the engraved frontis portraits are foxed. The maps are good. The cloth on the spine of Vol 2 is coming away, but repairable.

Vol. 3 is from the popular 1973 Lippincott edition
J.B. Lippincott Company, 1873. Beveled green cloth hardcover. Edited by John Foster Kirk.; 522 pages. Includes a 2 part appendix Part 1 includes further information about the Mexican Aztec civilization and Part 2 contains excerpts from original documents. In VG unmarked condition.

Prescott's "History of the Conquest of Mexico" has been published in 10 languages and been republished at least 200 times since its first publication in 1843. His pioneering work presents a compelling view of the clash of civilizations that reverberates in Latin America to this day. An early edition outlet.
