Shipibo outlet Shaman Statue, Shamanic Folk Art Doll Figure, Museum Artifact for Plant Medicine Altar, Ayahuasca

We recently purchased a collection of these incredible, handmade Shipibo figures from an American museum in the South. While it is unknown whether they were made here in the US or in Peru, we do know these figures were crafted in either the 1960's or 1970's and were used in a outlet display/exhibit on the Shipibo tribe and its culture.

Each figure is crafted from some sort of a plaster material, and dressed in paper mache clothing, which is painstakingly hand-painted. The attention to detail on the clothes is quite remarkable, as these patterns depicted are a huge part of the Shipibo culture. Each doll has wires protruding from feet, which bend to allow to help with balance or to stake into a surface for standing.

These figurines are just spectacular and would be beautiful pieces for someone's altar, mesa, or on display in someone's home. Each one is completely unique, a one-of-a-kind work of art.

Measurements: He stands about 10" tall

This powerful Shipibo man is clearly a curandero/shaman based on his ceremonial dress. He is in excellent condition with no damage/breaks. He would make an excellent guardian for any home, altar, mesa, or ceremonial space.

THE SHIPIBO
The Shipibo are one of 14 indigenous tribes living in the Amazon Basin in Peru. They are a shamanically based people, deeply influenced by the power of the plants, animals and natural elements. A unique aspect of the Shipibo culture is their woven song tradition. The Shipibo record their icaros or healing songs in elaborate geometrical designs that function like a musical score and correlate and interact with the natural world. They see the patterns in the natural world and are able to reproduce them for protection, healing, abundance, harmony and a variety of other purposes.

Please know that these figures are around 50+ years old and made of delicate materials. While they have been well-preserved and taken care of, there may be some minor cosmetic issues. We have tried to describe in detail any more serious issues, like cracks or breaks.
