An original serving tray originating from the distinguished Far Niente Winery in Oakville, this unique treasure has been hand crafted, sanded in levels until mirror-smooth, and then applied with food-grade Teak oil for years of use that never goes out of style. Safe to cut and slice, safe to eat from, not so great for the dishwasher. As you drive through the winding, tree-lined driveway upon entering Far Niente, you will come to a gate. Once you are through the gate you are free to tour the establishment, view the multi million dollar car collection, and of course sample wine in the manicured park where you can watch the swans and geese floating about. Pretty amazing place.

I know that each wine box is a bit different, so I put a lot of care and passion into each separate piece to give you a lasting and unique impression straight from Napa Wine Country!

This very attractive and handmade cutting board is made complete with a Bolivian hardwood frame called Leopardwood. This type of heavy, exotic wood is very heavy like steel, and the striking shades of burnt orange and brown harmonize perfectly with the top to create a beautiful result. This wood was fantastic to work with as the colors in the natural grain were constantly changing as I sanded, and yes, this wood does resemble a similar pattern outlet as a leopard's spots. The quality of this cutting board is evident the moment you pick it up. Very heavy at over 4 pounds, definitely made to last for years. I would recommend a new coat or two of natural Teak oil once or twice a year, although not mandatory! The final product is 17 inches wide (including handles) X 9 inches high, and a shade under 1 & 1/2 inches thick. On this particular product the letters are branded into the wood, not painted on. The black iron handles are very durable while easily retaining a beautiful look.

The occasional scratch, crack, or flaw will sometimes appear in the wood, and in some cases I jut left it with no other choice as it was an integral part of the product. (A scratch in the middle of a cutting board, for example). I believe these flaws add character and a kind of historical value – made purely to safeguard upscale wine, most wine boxes were still tossed around in warehouses and heaved into delivery trucks until they reached their final destination. I am sure there is a great story behind each one!

Authentic wood wine box specialties are ideal for that hard to buy for person in your life, wine aficionado, or it's just the perfect thing for your home that nobody else will ever have – definitively uncommon, always one of a kind.
