Vintage Needlepoint: Vermeer's Masterpiece outlet Cityscape "View of Delft" in Sculpted Gilt Frame, Circa 1950's Hiawatha Heirloom Kit From England

Here is a magnificent vintage needlepoint work that realizes J. Vermeer's masterpiece cityscape "View of Delft."

Completed from a 1950's Hiawatha Heirloom kit using Hiawatha's beautiful original British wool in a Continental 10 X 10 stitch.

The needlepoint is matted to 18" X 14" mounted in a 26" X 22" X 3" deeply sculpted Victorian-style gilded fancy frame. The period framing was done at Ashford Fine Arts in Ashford, Kent, England.

This is a statement piece and will stand out in many decor schemes.

The needlework is in excellent condition with vibrant color and no stains or other blemishes noted. The frame has a chip at one corner. From a non-smoking home.

Vermeer's "View of Delft," was judged by the French writer Marcel Proust to be “the most beautiful painting in the world," and is often cited as the most famous cityscape of the 17th century. It has been hanging at the Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague since 1822 alongside his most famous work, the "Girl with a Pearl Earring."
